You know how, when you visit Pakistan your mission in life is to Shop, Chill, Eat, Repeat? As soon as your feet hit the ground, Keto becomes Cheat-o? Your expensive Zara feels khataara? You wanna give the boot to your boots? For the entirety of your visit, all you wanna do is sleep wearing khaadi, have pedicures in kohla-puris, get facials eating kababas? ( Points for Exaggeration 10/10 😎 )
There are cleaners to do the cleaning. Drivers to do the driving. Your mum/saas/bhabi/jethani/house-help is doing the cooking. Your dad/susar/brother/cousin/house-help is keeping the children. You have friend’s home to visit and romantic date nights with husband.
If that’s not enough you go to malls buying your favourite brand of clothing. Some Nishat, some Jofa. A little limelight. Something Ethnic, a bit of Ego. And lots of aam and maybe sale pe khaas khaadi. (Let’s keep it real sisters 🤪)
If only we had a bit of desi luxurious life in Gora land!
Well, I have NEWS for you.
It’s mostly good and partially bad.
You are not getting a cleaner or a driver. You still have to cook your food and keep your kids. Your expat friends are still as tired as you are and the most romance in your life continues to be an accidental bump into your spouse while he takes out the trash as you vacuum the floor.
